Is this real life? Returning to Romania

IMG_2209

Eighteen weeks ago I came back from Romania and Moldova leaving a chunk of my heart behind.

In seven weeks I’ll be reunited with the missing piece.

We’re going back! And I couldn’t be more excited.

In April the Real Truth Matters staff ventured to Eastern Europe to launch the Romania Missionary Fellowship, a nonprofit organization that trains and equips pastors and church leaders in Eastern Europe to make disciples as Jesus commanded. The launching was the culmination of years of dreaming and it was a dream come true for me to go and participate in God’s grand plan of redemption across the nations.

In our two-week adventure, I fell in love with the country, the people, the terrible roads, the shepherds and their sheep, and even more in love with the Lord. (To read one of the many things God did in my heart while we were there, click here.)

DSC00230DSC00298We’ll be going back October 14-29 to host more pastors conferences in different parts of both Romania and Moldova, Bro. Michael will be preaching at different churches who are partnering with us and we’ll be doing everything we can to fulfill the Great Commission and advance the kingdom of God on this earth.

More details from the Real Truth Matters Blog:

After launching the Romania Missionary Fellowship in April, RMF Director Florin Vasiliu has established five pastors’ fellowships. Three in various parts of Romania and two in Moldova with approximately 12 pastors attending each monthly fellowship.

Florin is taking them through Bill Hull’s book The Disciple-Making Pastor and discipling them to become disciplers as Jesus commanded. The churches the pastors represent in these two countries are now embracing their responsibility in fulfilling the Great Commission, some of them for the first time.

However, the pastors need more than just one person pouring into them. Another set of conferences is needed to pour another layer of Scriptural foundation on their souls and continue equipping them to see the mission God has called us to participate in.

That’s what we’re going to do and I could not be more humbled or thrilled at yet another opportunity to glorify God and join His work among the nations.

How you can get involved

Pray for us! We know the only way our time in Eastern Europe will make an eternal impact is if the Lord is the one doing the work. We can do nothing in our own strength and it make a lasting difference, so we are calling upon the Lord to go before us, to be in us and to come behind us and do a supernatural work that will bring glory and honor to His name.

  • Pray that the Lord help Bro. Michael prepare conference sessions.
  • Pray for Bro. Michael and Florin, that God would unite their hearts as they share His glorious truths with the hungry souls in Romania and Moldova.
  • Pray for the pastors and church leaders who will be at the conferences and that the Lord would fill them with His Spirit and give them the longterm vision of making disciples.
  • Pray for financial support.
    • The plane fare alone for the three of us is $3400.00, not to mention the other expenses necessary for an endeavor like this. “Needless to say we need God to help us. I am praying that He moves on you to do what you can to help us further establish this missionary movement that is based upon the simple method of the apostles, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). The early church’s evangelism was centered on planting churches where the Gospel was not. That is all we are trying to do.” -Michael Durham, RTM Blog

  1. Love this! Definitely will be praying for this incredible journey. God has placed Romania and Moldova in particular on my heart before, and I believe it’s one of the places He will take me one day. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!

    • Thank you so much! You should definitely go. Being less than 5 percent evangelical, Eastern Europe desperately needs Christ (just like we all do) and if He is already burdening you with that desire to go I’m sure He is going to use you in amazing ways to strengthen and equip His global church!
