The Ledge of Glory – Sunrises in South Asia

DSCN1461

A rooftop view has never meant more to me.

As with most homes in the city in which we’re in, our guest house in South Asia (which is so nice—can I get an amen for running water, a nice kitchen and clean sheets? Praise) has rooftop access (for the rainwater tank and drying clothes, etc). What. Rooftop access, people. Not only that, but on the roof there is a little shed (for lack of a better word)  you can take a ladder on top of the shed where there’s an awesome ledge (the ledge of glory). It’s like a rooftop on a rooftop and it’s awesome.

Just look at this view.

That’s the sunrise over the Himalayas. Oh my heart. What a Creator.

Our team’s awesome leader (and one of the most legit women in the universe), Lori McDaniel, and I have hit up this view every morning we’ve been in the city and it’s turned into a worship session every single time.

This Creator we have—I just can’t get over Him.

He plays with light and shadows and makes the most exquisite colors and sunrises. Shades of orange and red, blue and yellow, dance on a dark canopy that brightens by the minute. Layers of color that equal layers of love.

The heavens declare His glory. And if the sky pours out His speech, He’s preaching a heck of a sermon today.

Wake up, souls of South Asia.
Wake up, souls of Kentucky.
Wake up, soul.

God is here and He is stunning, even more beautiful than the mountains and the sunrise.

This stunning Creator plays with nothing and suddenly there is.
He plays with dirt and makes man.
He whispers and worlds come out.
At His command, the stars shine, this glorious sun rises, and our hearts pump oxygen and blood through our bodies.

He is Master and Lord, Savior and Friend.

Oh my soul, forget not all His benefits. Bless Him for He is God. Oh my soul, praise Him for He is Thy health and salvation.

“The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty,

God
shines
forth.”
